Change as a factor of growth.
Ever thought about what would happen if we lived in a world that was stagnant, and everything just remained the same? It's not too easy building such a mental image because we are already part of a universe that is riddled with changes. We live in a world that is in a perpetual flux, a state of continuous change as famously explained by the philosopher Heraclitus and I quote, "Change is the only constant". Everything, from within ourselves to the external environment, is subject to transformation. Changing is an important factor of growing and I find that it influences a difference in our identity because we become different from what we would have been had we never changed. The bridge between your current state as an individual and that which you want to become lies thoroughly in the changes you must go through. Why then, if change is such a crucial aspect of shaping the process of becoming, are people so resistant and generally have a disliking towards it?
Something that disrupts comfort is bound to be scary, right? Well that's typically what change does. It carries with it the slightly unbearable gift of uncertainty. For everyone that likes to be in control ambiguity is utterly a nightmare. Discomfort and fear have created a resistive approach and judgement towards change because of it's unsettling nature and tendency to challenge people's established perspectives. Only, in a whole different spectrum the existence of change presents a plethora of opportunities for growth and personal evolution in one's journey of life. The key is to adapt. Re-inventing our behaviors, thoughts and emotions to accommodate change gives us confidence in our strength and resilience. When you adapt to changes you open your mind up to the ability of realizing growth and opportunities, eliminating the fear of the changes you encounter. In hindsight, surrounding yourself with people that understand and support the concept of change and transitioning also helps to improve adaptability. .
Change is a beautiful gateway for self-realization, hence my advocacy. Embrace it in yourself and others for a fulfilling life experience.
